Israeli-born Hollywood actress Natalie Portman has rejected the award for protesting Israeli attack on Palestinians in Gaza. She was supposed to receive this award from an organization of Israel named Genesis.
According to Genesis, Natalie has decided to reject the Genesis award to protest against the barbarism of Israeli forces in Gaza. The event was organized to reward the actress, but after her decision of rejection, the program was canceled by the organizer.
It is written on the organization’s website that Natalie ’s representative has been quoted as saying that the recent barbarism in Israel is very painful. And therefore, it is not possible for her to attend any event in that country.
Meanwhile, the organizer said in her statement, “We appreciate Natalie’s humanity, and we also respect for the right to criticize the policies of the Israeli government.” However, we are very sorry for the refusal of Natalie to be present in the events in Jerusalem because of the political issues. We are afraid that due to her decision, our charity initiative may have to face politicization.
In fact, Natalie is a Jew and born in Israel. She is currently living in America. The genesis prize of millions of dollars is given since 2014. It is given to anyone who has worked for Israel or the Jewish people.
